On 8 May, the day before Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) two British WWII veterans came to Birmingham Russian School to meet the children. For them and for the parents, the pupils had prepared a short performance, with WWII-themed costumes, poems and music. The performance, which was very warmly received, brought to life the events of that past war, now remote so but not forgotten. The atmosphere was so emotional that tawards the end some spectators had tears in their eyes. Both adults and children observed the moment of silence. And when the young performers started singing 'Katyusha', everybody joined in!

Our warmest wishes for the 65-th anniversary of VE Day! |
